Well it was a long, cool, windy sort of winter that led into a cool, overcast spring with plenty of rainfall and now that summer's here, it still hasn't picked up.

Not as many clear, blue, sunny days as you would imagine at this time of year, just day after day of grey cloud and patches of rain.

It's currently 21 degrees at 9.30pm Wednesday 21st December, I'm still wearing long pants and a cardy !!  with showers still threatening through to next Tuesday 27th December.

Day temperatures will be between 24-27 degrees and night temperatures have been hovering between 11-15 degrees for the last half of this month.

So if you're headed home to Mudgee this Christmas bring clothing for all seasons !!
We hope you enjoy your stay ... Merry Christmas !!

Well it's that time of year where we all need to slow down and reflect on what Christmas truly means and there's no better way than coming together with family and friends for Christmas Church Services.

St John's Anglican Church will be holding a Family Christmas Service with a very popular Children's pageant at 6pm on Christmas Eve.  They will also host a Choral Eucharist at 11.30pm Christmas Eve, so please bring your best singing voice !

St Mary's Catholic Church will also be staging a Christmas Eve Children's Mass at 6.30pm which sounded so popular I suggest booking a seat (or get in really early !!) and another Mass Service at 9pm.

Click for a full timetable of Christmas Day Service Times in Mudgee (including villages),
As well as Christmas Day Services, Frontline Assemblies will host a New Years Eve Service at 7pm.

or see our complete Entertainment Guide.

                MERYY CHRISTMAS To All ...

This coming New Years Eve in Mudgee, Parklands Resort will be hosting a FREE fireworks display the whole family can enjoy.  Bring your own rug and a picnic basket and enjoy the Resort's spacious grounds with fireworks starting at 9pm.

Enjoy a picnic outdoors, the restaurant buffet indoors or an exclusive balcony dining package.  There will ALSO be a DJ inside the Resort for the over 18's with a huge screen displaying Sydney's live NYE fireworks.

So there's a little bit of something for everyone ... and as the resort is located only 500 metres from town, the family could comfortably walk.  The footpath / cycle track has been upgraded and is very accessible for prams, gophers and bikes.

What a fabulous opportunity to enjoy the new year celebrations.   Well done Parklands for giving Mudgee families an opportunity to come together at this time of year !!

ENJOY !!!         SEE OUR Complete Entertainment Guide for more events !!

Well there's certainly a lot of live music this weekend in Mudgee.  Kicking off Thursday night with some young high school musicians to Tim Freedman (of The Whitlams fame), an end of year dance concert and of course, an Elvis Tribute Show.

Still looking for last minute gift ideas ... well make some time Saturday to browse some of New Leaf Decor's Christmas gifts.  Head out onto the Sydney Rd and just after Bunnings, take the first right turn onto Springflat Rd, go along 2km and then turn right onto Hill Sixty Drive and it's the first house on the right.  Nic, will undoubtedly have everything looking fabulous and there will be plenty to choose from ... browse online to get a few ideas !!

Why not enjoy our local produce and scenery with a guided walking tour through some of our local farms and wineries this weekend with members of Mudgee's Fine Foods Group,   This weekend's theme is olives and organic pork !!

Monday will see the local Mudgee Business Association's AGM - why not get yourself along and see how you can help out.

Well it didn't quite rain on Mudgee's Christmas Carols yesterday - but it was very threatening.  Thankfully it held off and managed to rain for what felt like the entire night.

Gulgong will be holding a Christmas Party at ANZAC Park in Gulgong, this coming Saturday 17th December 2011 and Kandos will be holding their Christmas Carols this Sunday 18th at The Rotunda.

Let's hope it fines up soon - it's so strange to be so far into summer and hardly a blue sky day in sight !!

What a fabulous opening night for the TAFE Visual Arts & Ceramics Exhibition last night.  Great crowd, food and wine and lots of talented work.  I personally love ceramics and they were brilliant.  The sculpture class is really moving forward under Margot Stephens.  Keep an eye on this group as they develop over the next few years !!

Find some time to get along to The Stables, 84 Market St (next to the post office) before Sunday afternoon.  It's free and shoud be open from 10-4 Fri, Sat and after lunch Sunday.  The students will be manning the exhibition, so it's a great opportunity to chat directly with them, buy a piece or two and maybe consider joining up for next year !!

Here's a small preview, I'll get some more pics onto the Arts page over the next few days, for those of you who can't make it

The first two pieces shown are by Virginia Moffat, the third piece is by Brett Niven (note all the red dots - SORRY they're sold already - you need to preview these two students work privately before an opening or you could just miss out  !!)
